Premier League stars Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez have both been heavily linked with transfers to Real Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool respectively.
Bale’s agent, Jonathan Barnett, told a Spanish television show on Wednesday, “If somebody like Mr Perez was interested in Gareth Bale it would be a great honour and we would listen.”
He went on to add about his client, “Bale is better than Neymar. He’s proved himself in the best league in the world. Listen, it’s crazy, but whatever Neymar cost, Gareth Bale is worth more. I would hope that any club who wants him, wants him not because they lost Neymar. I would think he’d have to be their first choice.”
Only a few hours later Suarez told the Uruguayan radio station, Radio sport 890, “It would be very difficult to say no to Real Madrid.”
When discussing his reasons for this, Suarez, who was recently banned for ten games after biting Chelsea player Branislav Ivanovic, stated, “I’m happy at Liverpool thanks to the fans. I have committed an error. I am human. But [the media have] talked about me in ways they shouldn’t have.”
He added, “My family have suffered and things have gone beyond the limits. I am tired of it. My daughter and my wife have suffered. I’m not prepared to continue suffering at the hands of the English journalists. I suffered a lot as a kid to get where I am just to be attacked unfairly by the English press. They haven’t appreciated me as a player. They’ve just judged my attitude.
Suarez then concluded, “There are a lot of rumours in the transfer period, but you never know until firm offers are made. I’ve talked to my agent. There’s nothing concrete.”
Real Madrid’s club president, Florentino Perez, has since added more weight to the rumors by stating about Bale, “He would be a good signing for the club. Bale is one of the best players in the world and at Real Madrid we always have the best. I am convinced that if the club want him he would be a great signing.”
Meanwhile, he added the following about the Liverpool frontman, “Luis Suarez is a great player and I’m sure everyone will want to have it. I like him and others, but all do not fit.”
Do you think Real Madrid will purchase Suarez or Bale?
