Robert Downey Jr. Discusses ‘Iron Man’ Future

Robert Downey Jr. has been discussing his future with the Iron Man franchise revealing that if he could he would start work on another installment tomorrow if he could.

The actor’s contract with the series has now expired, but there is still uncertainty surrounding Tony Stark’s future.

It is thought that Downey Jr. is in negotiations over his return, recently telling Entertainment Weekly, “I’d go start another one tomorrow, but it’s not tomorrow. And there are a lot of other considerations. But I also don’t like the idea of leaving people hanging or leaving people in the lurch.”

Downey Jr. then talked about his future plans, adding, “My intent is to launch another franchise, independent of any that I can even imagine right now. My intent is to dominate the playing field for as long as I can, with my own challenges, with myself.”

Kevin Feige has also been discussing Iron Man’s future, stating, “I believe there will be a fourth Iron Man film, and a fifth and a sixth, and a 10th and a 20th. I see no reason why Tony Stark can’t be as evergreen as James Bond. Or Batman for that matter. Or Spider-Man. I think Iron Man is a character just like that.”

Iron Man 3 recently surpassed a $1 billion at the global box office and is currently placed 16th on the highest grossing movies list. The likes of Avatar, Titanic, The Avengers, and Toy Story 3 are currently place ahead of Tony Stark’s adventure.

Robert Downey Jr. will next be seen in Jon Favreau’s comedy, Chef, whilst he is also expected to star in David Dobkin’s, The Judge. There have also been rumors that he will star in a third Sherlock Holmes movie, alongside Jude Law, which will be directed by Guy Ritchie.

Do you think Iron Man should continue without Robert Downey Jr.?
