Elisha Cuthbert Explains Controversial Eye Roll On Twitter [Video]
Elisha Cuthbert explained her controversial eye roll on Twitter after receiving quite a bit of backlash from Toronto Maple Leafs fans.
Here’s the setup: Cuthbert, who is engaged to defenseman Dion Phaneuf, attended the Maple Leafs match against the Boston Bruins on Wednesday. When a game-winning shot made it past goalie James Reimer, the actress can be seen issuing an epic eye roll at Reimer’s wife.
Needless to say, fans were not overwhelmingly impressed with her gesture. Since many believed Elisha Cuthbert was using the expression to critique Reimer’s performance, folks quickly started lashing out on Twitter. This prompted the Girl Next Door star to defend herself on the social media site.
In short, Cuthbert explained that her controversial eye roll wasn’t directed at the goalie’s wife. She added that she was “insulted” by a number of the comments she had received from Maple Leafs fans on Twitter.
James Reimer’s wife also hopped on Twitter to discuss the issue. April explained that the actress’ eye roll was not intended as a critique of the goalie’s performance towards the end of the game. Instead, she said Cuthbert was reacting to the “idiot” sitting near them at the time.
Although fans were quick to jump on Elisha Cuthbert for the eye roll seen around the world, it would appear that this is essentially a non-story. Instead of waiting to see what prompted the gesture, folks used the social media site to direct their knee-jerk reactions at the former 24 star.
Things are not always what they seem. I’m insulted and disappointed by a lot of these Comments. That’s real. Not a 3 sec. Clip.
