Peppers Adds Some Spice To Chicago Bears Lineup

It’s official! The Chicago Bears have finally done something right since last years horrendous showing. The Bears today announced the acquisition of Julius Peppers, one of the most sought after free agents in the NFL and a much needed addition at the defensive end position.

Peppers, a five-time Pro Bowler agreed on Friday to a deal that could potentially be worth up to $91.5 million

Under current terms his agent Carl Carey said Peppers will receive $42 million, including $20 million in year one and then $40.5 million over the first three years of his four year contract. Those numbers skyrocket if Peppers reaches expected numbers for sacks, reaches the Pro Bowl or wins “Defensive Player of the Year” honors.

Peppers released a simple statement about his new home in Chicago:

“It’s one thing to play football in this league and make a living, but it’s a totally different thing to come to a place with a rich tradition like the Bears,”

On a side note, the Bears also lured Chester Taylor from Minnesoto and tight end blocker Brandon Manumaleuna from San Diego.

For the sake of Lovie Smith, he better hope these good, but expensive moves lead to a winning season or it could be his last in Chicago as his contract draws to an end.
