Tim Lambesis Divorce Docs Showed Amicable Split

Though As I Lay Dying lead singer Tim Lambesis has been arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hit man to kill his estranged wife, divorce documents show that the two had a pretty amicable divorce.

In court docs, Meggan Lambesis expressed no fears for her safety, but noted that recent changes in Tim’s behavior had caused her some concern, specifically regarding his ability to care for their three adopted kids.

Law enforcement officials arrested the 32-year-old metalcore singer this week after he tried to hire an undercover detective he thought was a hit man.

Meggan says that her estranged husband has recently become “obsessed with bodybuilding” and that he was distracted when he spent time with the couple’s children. She said that their three kids, adopted from Ethiopia, need a “stable parent” to help them adjust to their new life.

She suggested that his busy tour schedule may have been a factor in an apparent emotional breakdown, and Tim’s own comments regarding his band’s latest album Awakened show he has been struggling.

“On this record, I wasn’t purposefully trying to be negative, but I think sometimes we have to be honest with some of the darker and more difficult times of our lives to get back to that positivity,” Lambesis reportedly said of the album.

“While the lyrics do perhaps seem like a dark window into my soul, they’re written that way specifically because I want to move on and transcend those difficult moments in life.”

The band released the album the same month Meggan Lambesis filed for divorce. It is described as a “far darker, more pessimistic beast” than the band’s previous work.

Lambesis’ bandmates don’t seem to know much about their frontman’s troubles, either. In a statement, they revealed that they’re learning details about the situation alongside the rest of us.

“There are many unanswered questions, and the situation will become clearer in the coming days and weeks. We’ll keep you informed as best we can.

“Our thoughts right now are with Tim, his family, and with everyone else affected by this terrible situation – and with our fans, whom we love and draw strength from.”

As I Lay Dying was expected to tour with Killswitch Engage at the end of this month.
