Actor Jonah Hill took to Instagram and shared a story from The Daily Mail that featured photos of him surfing in a skintight black wetsuit and shirtless afterward while toweling off.
The Wolf of Wall Street actor explained that he'd never taken his shirt off in the pool until a few years ago due to all the insecurities he'd suffered about his body throughout his childhood and into adulthood. Hill's weight and body have been the subject of many stories throughout the years of his fame.
The article from The Daily Mail showed a few photos of Hill surfing in Malibu last week. In a video, he paddled out on his board and enjoyed a wave in another still. The article also featured a photo of the Superbad actor wearing a towel around his midsection, revealing several upper body tattoos.
While the article didn't mention anything about Hill's body, it showed him in the tight wetsuit and without his shirt, which might have bothered the actor in the past.
In his post, Hill noted that he feels differently about things now that he's approaching middle age.
"So the idea that the media tries to play me by stalking me while surfing and printing photos like this, and it can’t phase me anymore is dope. I’m 37 and finally love and accept myself," wrote the actor.
Hill went on to speak to the kids today who don't feel comfortable with their bodies. He let them know that they are awesome just the way they are.
In the photos, it's clear that Hill is enjoying himself. He has a big grin on his face in the photo where he's toweling off shirtless. He had a message to the publication.
"Oh and Daily Mail, not even you can take that smile from my face," he wrote, including an old-school smiley.
More than 791,000 Instagram users hit the like button to express their support for Hill, and nearly 24,000 also took the time to reply with an uplifting comment, praising the sentiment.
Many of Hill's 2.2 million Instagram followers who replied to his latest post praised him for his healthy attitude. Many of those who left a message also had blue checkmarks by their name, indicating some level of fame, so they understood how it felt to have paparazzi snap such images.
