‘Destiny’: Bungie Has A Lot Of Work To Do Yet

Bungie still has a lot of work to do on Destiny.

Destiny is the first original IP Bungie has developed since Halo: Combat Evolved, and it’s really no wonder that it’s going to take a lot of work yet to get it ready. Destiny isn’t a small game, as it’s expected to take advantage of the next generation hardware of the Xbox 720 and the PlayStation 4. If Halo is anything to go by, Bungie is planning to make Destiny an epic experience at the least.

We just hope they give it a better final showdown than Halo 4 had. All that buildup for what amounted to a cutscene just felt lazy.

On Bungie’s website, the Mail Sack feature hosted the question of whether the graphics, game world, or character models of Destiny were anything close to finished, and the answer was a resounding no. We’re taking this as a good sign, as anything being completely finished this soon would indicate that Bungie is rushing it.

Bungie commented on the Mail Sack question, “No, no and no. Everything you’ve seen so far is work in progress. There is still a lot of work to be done. This is why you are made to wait, friends. Not because we like to tease you. Not because we know that you can take it. It’s because we’re still working.”

Imagine if Bungie had decided to show off a character model from Destiny and it looked like something made for the original PlayStation. That would most likely not look good for them, as we would wonder if the rest of the game was going to be that unpolished or lazy.

Bungie has been quoted as saying that no matter what platform you’re playing Destiny on, it is going to look “awesome”, and that gives us hope. Any killer app for any console needs to look top-notch.

Bungie is developing Destiny for Xbox 360, Xbox 720, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PC, and will be published by Activision.
