Jenna Bush Hager’s Water Broke At Baby Shower

Jenna Bush Hager recently became a first-time mom but not without some awkwardness. The former First Daughter admits that her water broke at her baby shower, one of the things all pregnant women fear but, thankfully, is a rare occurrence.

Before a first baby arrives, most new parents have a laundry list of unlikely scenarios like the one Jenna Bush Hager recalls about her water breaking — but as we all know, rarely is the birth of a child anything like what you see on TV or in movies. More often than not, a first labor is slow going, undramatic, and uneventful, and situations like the one Dubya’s daughter experienced generally are the stuff of hackneyed comedies.

Bush Hager herself admits the sitch was a bit cliche … and she, like all newly pregnant women, probably got the advice about carrying around a jar of pickles should the classic first symptom of an impending birth occur in public.

The 31-year-old Bush twin says that she was opening presents at her baby shower and began to feel a bit unwell, but that tends to happen in the later stages of pregnancy.

Calling into the Today show yesterday, Bush Hager explains how she found herself in the embarrassing position of starting labor while at the last big event before the baby.

Jenna said: “I kind of started sweating, which I guess is a normal thing … but then, all of a sudden, in front of all of my friends, my water broke!”

Oh, honey.

She continued: “It was like a romantic comedy … We’re just as happy as can be … I’ve learned that you can love somebody in a totally different way.”

Jenna Bush Hager’s daughter Margaret Laura Hager, nicknamed Mila, arrived earlier this month — two weeks ahead of schedule.
