Small town America – but not the way you think


You can be forgiven for thinking that these are some photographs of the 50’s long forgotten in an attic trunk. You might also be forgiven for thinking that they are excellent examples of using Photoshop when in fact they aren’t.

What they are though is the result of some incredible modelling work, and the oldest special effects trick in the book, by Michael Paul Smith. All the buildings are 1/24th scale and are constructed from Gator board, styrene plastic, Sintra – a light flexible plastic that can be carved and painted – as well as found objects.
