Mike Myers, Dana Carvey To Reunite For ‘Wayne’s World’ Panel

Mike Myers and Dana Carvey are scheduled to reunite for an upcoming Wayne’s World panel in Los Angeles later this month.

Although the former Saturday Night Live cast members famously teamed up for two movies based on their popular sketch, the pair never reunited for a third entry in the series. Behind-the-scenes turmoil ultimately derailed plans for another installment.

Roughly 21 years after the release of the original film, Mike Myers, Dana Carvey, and director Penelope Spheeris will come together to discuss the films. The trio will appear at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Wilshire Boulevard headquarters on April 23.

The event will be hosted by Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels. Academy president Hawk Koch, who is reportedly the mastermind behind the reunion, will introduce the panel.

Spheeris said she was ready to put the past behind her. According to the filmmaker, all three were “getting too old to be p***ed.

She added, “‘Wayne’s World’ has such a beautiful, uplifting spirit about it. Why should there be a dark cloud? This is going to be cathartic. Everyone’s going to walk out of there high — sort of like they did when they watched the movie.”

Mike Myers and Penelope Spheeris reportedly couldn’t agree on the original cut of the film. Although Myers offered suggestions to the director, Spheeris didn’t always take them into consideration. When the time came to put together a sequel, the Austin Powers star pushed for a different director.

Dana Carvey and Mike Myers reportedly fell out after the release of Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me. Carvey felt that Dr. Evil was based on an impersonation he did of Lorne Michaels during their days at Saturday Night Live.

Those interested in attending the Wayne’s World panel can pick up tickets from Oscars.org. The event will take place on April 23. Everyone involved should anticipate a barrage of Wayne’s World 3 questions.
