Daddy Yankee Rumors False, Singer Denies He’s Gay

Daddy Yankee is striking down persistent rumors that he’s gay. The musician, born Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez, became the focus of media speculation regarding his sexual orientation earlier this week.

The rumors began to spread after numerous media outlets reported on a statement allegedly made by Daddy Yankee, in which he supposedly confirmed that he is gay. However, according to the musician and his representatives, that statement was completely fake.

The statement in question reportedly read, “I am a human being like any other, with virtues and defects, and I don’t believe that this is a defect.”

The quote was reported as being a reference to Daddy Yankee’s feelings about being gay. However, the reggaeton star vehemently denies that there is any truth to the reports.

In addition to the false statement, a photograph allegedly showing a kiss between Daddy Yankee and an unidentified man surfaced online — also denied by the artist.

A public relations firm that reportedly represents Daddy Yankee issued a response addressing the false statement and the media’s role in furthering the rumors.

Mayna Nevarez, president of Nevarez Communications, issued the following statement on Wednesday to Billboard magazine:

“Online blogs and social media are once again to blame for the spread of false news reports which other media outlets have also shared regarding a public figure. The reports circulating regarding Daddy Yankee’s declaration of homosexuality was falsely written by an online outlet known for fabricating false information and spreading it through social media sites.”

Daddy Yankee reportedly addressed the rumors as well, allegedly stating the following during a press conference: “Now, again to you ignorant ones: The internet is where the lies become truth and truth becomes myth. Wake up, bobo!”

On Wednesday, the music star shared a quote via Twitter that appears to sum up his feelings about the media’s propensity for spreading rumors. It read, “‘I fear the day when technology exceeds our humanity the world will only have a generation of idiots’, Albert Einstein.”

While the artist wants to set the record straight on his own sexual orientation, he does not appear to have anything against the gay community. He was reportedly asked about his feelings on gay marriage during a recent press event.

Daddy Yankee allegedly responded by saying, “I have people on my team who are gay, and I respect them entirely and give them work.” He allegedly indicated that gay marriage is a human rights issue to be settled between religious figures and the government.
