‘Only God Forgives’ Gets A Red Band Trailer

Ryan Gosling and Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn are collaborating again for the crime/thriller Only God Forgives, which just received a brand new red band trailer.

“It’s very extreme. It’s part of the same dream as ‘Drive’, but it’s more of a nightmare than a dream but it’s more extreme. We shot it in Thailand and no-one was watching,” Gosling said. “So that’s what happens when you let Nicolas loose in Thailand. There’s no-one around to put the reins on and he’s completely unleashed.”

In addition to Only God Forgives, Gosling will be appearing in The Place Beyond the Pines. These may be his last films, however, as the 32-year-old has announced that he is planning to quit acting.

“I’ve been doing it too much,” he said. “I’ve lost perspective on what I’m doing. I think it’s good for me to take a break and reassess why I’m doing it and how I’m doing.” He added that he needed a break from himself “as much as I imagine the audience does.”

The official synopsis for Only God Forgives is as follows:

“Julian (Gosling) lives in exile in Bangkok where he runs a Thai boxing club as a front for the family’s drugs smuggling operation. When Julian’s brother Billy is killed their mother, Jenna (Kristen Scott Thomas), arrives in the city. She wants revenge and forces Julian to find the killer. Julian’s contacts in the criminal underworld lead him directly to The Angel of Vengeance, a retired police officer who knows everything and who is both Judge and Punisher. Jenna demands that Julian kill The Angel of Vengeance, an act that will cost him dearly.”

The “Angel of Vengeance” is named Chang and is played by Vithaya Pansringarm, who previously appeared in The Hangover Part II.
