Fede Alvarez Wants An ‘Evil Dead,’ ‘Army Of Darkness’ Crossover

The director of the upcoming Evil Dead remake has big plans for the franchise.

Should Sam Raimi and company get around to making Army of Darkness 2, Fede Alvarez said he wouldn’t mind a crossover with that series and the new Evil Dead franchise.

When asked if he would participate in another entry in the iconic horror franchise, Bruce Campbell eventually admitted that he reprise his role as Ash at some point in the future.

Alvarez said that his ultimate plan was to make a sequel to updated version of Evil Dead while Sam Raimi puts together Army of Darkness 2. Once both films have been released, the two worlds could come together for one final installment.

Bruce Campbell revealed that the Evil Dead remake director was very chatty about the franchise when the two first met.

“You can tell an ‘Evil Dead’ fan is a real ‘Evil Dead’ fan because they won’t f***ing shut up about it,” he told the audience at WonderCon.

Those who attended the convention got a chance to see a brand new trailer for the upcoming horror remake. The clip is said to be similar to the red band trailer that’s currently making the rounds online.

Fans of the franchise haven’t given up hope that Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell would return to the franchise. The acclaimed filmmaker recently revealed that he intended to work on the Evil Dead 4 script with his brother Ted Raimi at some point over the summer.

As for where the next installment of Raimi’s franchise would pick up, Campbell said that was completely up to the director to figure out.

The actor explained to Empire:

“I’m sure Sam will concoct some ridiculous story and an outrageous journey, so I don’t really care where it starts and ends. The fun thing is working again with Sam Raimi. That’s the only reason to do these incredibly difficult movies than work for a guy who you really like working with and who you respect.”

All of these ideas currently hinge on the success of the upcoming remake. The film is expected to arrive in theaters across the US on April 5.
