WWE Rumors: Vince McMahon Changed Up Plans As ‘Raw’ Superstar Continues To Be Buried

Being one of the two superstars in a WWE Championship match at a major pay-per-view doesn’t always mean that you’ve made it. This past week on Monday Night Raw, WWE 24/7 Champion Riddick Moss cleanly beat Ricochet to retain his title, and it dumbfounded a great number of fans. Apparently, the decision to have Ricochet lose that match was a last-minute change.

Ricochet had been moving up the ladder on Monday nights recently, and fans were loving it. His in-ring talent and high-flying acrobatics make him a joy to watch every time he is on television, but things have changed within the last month.

On the February 3 episode of Raw, Ricochet won a Triple Threat Match over Seth Rollins and Bobby Lashley for the opportunity to face Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Super ShowDown.

The match in Saudi Arabia wasn’t even remotely competitive. Ricochet lost cleanly in a squash match to Lesnar that lasted one minute and 34 seconds.

On this week’s Raw, the first show since Super ShowDown, Ricochet lost to Moss, and that was a call made by none other than Vince McMahon.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, by way of IW Nerd, Ricochet was originally scheduled to face off against R-Truth on Monday night before the script changes.

On February 17, Moss wrestled his fourth match on the WWE main roster, and he won the 24/7 Championship from his friend, Mojo Rawley. Since becoming champion, he has successfully defended it against Rawley, R-Truth, Cedric Alexander, and Ricochet.

It is rather ironic that Moss has clean victories over both Ricochet and Alexander as many wrestling fans have started comparing the two superstars. Both of those up-and-comers were heading up the ladder on Monday Night Raw and taking huge strides, but the rug was then pulled out from under them.

This has been extremely confusing and frustrating for the WWE Universe as both Alexander and Ricochet were fan-favorites and doing so well. Now, they have fallen by the wayside and it’s not known if they’ll even be able to rebound.

It was an odd move to have Ricochet lose the chance at the 24/7 Championship after he had been previously built up enough to challenge for the WWE Championship. After earning a chance at the WWE Championship Match against Brock Lesnar, it seemed as if things were continuing to go up for Ricochet, but after he was squashed at Super ShowDown and defeated cleanly by Riddick Moss on Raw, things now look different for the superstar.
