Sega Genesis iPhone App Emulator Debuts, Brings The Awesomeness

It’s impossible to not associate awesomeness with the Sega Genesis, especially when it’s available via an iPhone emulator application.

The “Ultimate Genesis” emulator will officially hit the Apple App store in February according to Gizmodo and will be offered with one free game (Space Harrier II). Users will then be able to purchase other games for $5.99 each through the application, including Snoic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin and many others.

Sure you may have been able to download Sonic and other Genesis gems for months now via the iPhone store, but now you can manage all your Sega games in one centralized location.

If the word “emulator” is new to you, it basically means you can play games from other systems on a different system. Emulators have been popular for years on PCs and other handheld devices and have recently made a huge surge on Smartphones, especially on iPhone devices. While most emulators are rarely legal, download friendly iPhone users can rest assured, this one was developed by Sega.

You’ll be able to find the application this February in the Apple Apps store under the name “Ultimate Genesis.”
