Marilyn Manson Throws Smoke Bomb At 'Spring Breakers' Premiere

Marilyn Manson tossed a smoke bomb from the window of his car as he left a Hollywood event last week, a strange sendoff that apparently has become the calling card for the musician.

Manson was attending the Spring Breakers premiere at Emerson Theater in Los Angeles on Thursday when he made his big exit. He tossed the smoke bomb from his car window and drove off, leaving firefighters to check out the smoking device to make sure it wasn’t anything dangerous.

The rocker was wearing glasses and makeup at the party for the new film, an onlooker said. At the party James Franco was seen with new girlfriend Ashley Benson as other celebrities chatted, but the talk of the party seemed to be Marilyn Manson’s smoke bomb.

“Apparently, it’s his signature move,” a source told the New York Post. “He did the same thing recently at Greystone Manor.”

Marilyn Manson, a hit in the 1990s with his counterculture appeal, has spoken recently about his attempt at a comeback attempt. After a string of albums in the mid to late 2000s earned him tepid reviews, Manson said he wanted to regain his edge.

“I felt I wasn’t able to live up to what I am supposed to be,” he said. ” I lost interest. That was the problem. The edge comes with the desire.

“I’m like a knife. You’re either a butcher knife or a butter knife. . . . That’s what I was. I don’t know where that metaphor came from but I’m sticking with it.”

Marilyn Manson has had some other drama in the past few weeks. In early February he was playing a concert in Canada when he collapsed during a performance of “Beautiful People.” Once fans and bandmates realized that it wasn’t a joke, the show was stopped and stagehands rushed to see if the singer was OK.

Some concertgoers tweeted accounts of the collapse and the confusion that followed.

@HannahFranson tweeted: “Wow good way for a concert to end. Manson falls down, pukes, then gets dragged off stage. #SayNoToDrugsPeople.”

It sounds like a bigger exit for Marilyn Manson than throwing a smoke bomb and driving off.
