The Ramones Movie Teased By Joey Ramone’s Widow

A movie biopic based on the life of The Ramones is in the works, according to Linda Ramone, the widow of the band’s former lead singer, Joey Ramone.

Talking to Rolling Stone magazine, Linda revealed in an interview that she is currently in discussion to turn the punk band’s story into a film.

“I have offers right now to do a Ramones movie,” remarked Linda. “It would be nice to do a Ramones movie. I will do one no matter what. Maybe it will be just based more on Commando. I’m working on it right now. We’re in discussions, which is always a fun time.”

Commando was the 2012 biography of Joey Ramone. It is yet to be revealed whether or not the film will come from the perspective of the singer, or it will instead document the band’s rise to fame in the late 1970s.

Linda Ramone even went on to suggest the actor she would like to play her husband. “Of course everybody would want Johnny Depp to play him, because he’s cool and looks good.”

Discussing her relationship with Depp, Ramone added, “He’s super nice to me and he used to always talk to Johnny if we’d go to the Viper Room. His band opened up for the Ramones years and years ago.”

However, she did admit that Depp is probably a bit too old to play Joey now, remarking, “It has to be someone who’s young, they’d have to be in their twenties, and all the Ramones in their twenties looked like they were in their early twenties, so I don’t know.”

She also discussed the most important aspect of the production, stating, “The hair is important. You could never have nobody with curly hair. I know that lets out a lot of people, but its true. The hairdo and the stance.”

Who would you like to see in a Ramones movie?
