MC Hammer Charges Dropped After Dublin Arrest

MC Hammer recently took to Twitter to announce that charges against him have been dropped.

The rapper and dancer was arrested last month after allegedly obstructing and resisting an officer. MC Hammer said on Friday that the charges against him have been dropped.

“Thank You to all my friends and supporters. All charges declined. Dropped. Have a great weekend,” the rapper tweeted before the weekend. He used the hashtag #OutOnBail with his post.

Although MC Hammer — whose real name is Stanley Kirk Burrell — has stated that the charges against him have been dropped by authorities, Dublin police have yet to comment on the situation.

The rapper was arrested last month in Dublin, California after police stopped MC Hammer for blasting his radio. Officers also stated that he was driving a car that wasn’t registered in his name. While police believe they had a legit reason to pull him over, Hammer said he was the victim was racial profiling.

Officers stated that the arrest was made following an incident at Hacienda Crossings shopping center. MC Hammer was reportedly placed under arrest after failing to cooperate with authorities. The rapper soon took to Twitter to express his outrage.

“Chubby Elvis looking dude was tapping on my car window,” the rapper wrote. “I rolled down the window and he said ‘Are you on parole or probation?’ While I was handing him my ID he reached in my car and tried to pull me out the car but forgot he was on a steady doughnut diet.”

He added, “Only thing more dangerous than a scared man with a gun, is a scared man with an agenda, a gun and a badge. I was cited for obstruction.”

MC Hammer also used the micro-blogging website to inform his fans that all charges against him have since been dropped. The rapper said he wanted this situation to be an “teachable moment” and an “eye opener” for his friends and colleagues.

Last year, MC Hammer and Psy joined forces for a “Gangnam Style” and “2 Legit 2 Quit” mash-up at the American Music Awards. Before the two took the stage together, the South Korean rapper appeared wearing a sparkled black top and “Hammer” pants.

MC Hammer is probably best known to music fans for his early 90s single “U Can’t Touch This.” The song was followed by a number of hit tunes, including a song written for the Addams Family movie.
