Brooke Shields Likely To Join ‘The View’ After Hasselbeck Departs

There’s major shifting going on for the ladies of The View. The popular show, spearheaded by Barabara Walters, that brought the format of a round table discussion to daytime television is seeing major changes. One of those major changes is the addition of Brooke Shields.

Yesterday it was announced that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was leaving The View. However, unlike Joy Behar’s decision to leave the morning talk show, Hasselbeck will not leave on her own volition.

Although ABC has yet to comment on the matter, a marketing research team for The View revealed that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was “too extreme and right-wing” for viewers to handle. Hasselbeck has been on the show for a long-running nine years. Throughout her run on The View Hasselbeck has fought with everyone on the show, as she has proven time and time again that she’s a passionate conservative.

It seems the likely possibility that Brooke Shields is replacing Hasselbeck is a good move for The View if they’re looking for someone who is neutral in their opinions. With Shields they get that as well as a big name to pull in viewers.

According to some sources, Walters is really pulling for Brooke Shields to nab the job. Walters “really wants Brooke because 47-year-old actress, who has already guest hosted on The View, has all the right stuff to appeal to fans. She’s articulate, has Hollywood connections perfect for nabbing interviews, is the right age, and is a mom!”

If Brooke Shields joins The View, she will join Whoopi Goldberg and Sherri Shepherd, with Barbara Walters making a few appearances. Women of the past round table show include Meredith Vieira, Rosie O’Donnell, Star Jones, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Lisa Ling.

Do you agree with the dismissal of Elisabeth Hasslebeck? Do you think Brooke Shields is a good fit for The View?
