‘Workaholics’ Star Anders Holm To Recur On ‘The Mindy Project’

Workaholics star Anders Holm will recur on Fox’s The Mindy Project as a new love interest for the comedy’s titular character, played by The Office‘s Mindy Kaling.

Holm will appear in a four-episode arc as Casey, a Lutheran pastor in New York City who is so cool, he has a DJ play at his church services. When Casey first meets Mindy, he simultaneously attracts and irritates her, but they begin dating shortly afterward.

The Mindy Project is currently in its first season, with seven episodes left until the season finale. The series has broken out as the No. 1 new comedy among women 18-34, with its most recent episode on February 26 drawing 3.26 million total viewers in its Thursday 9:30 pm time slot. It outperformed NBC competitor The New Normal, which only pulled in 2.62 million viewers. The series was renewed for a second season on March 4, along with Raising Hope and New Girl.

“We love working with these talented producers and casts who, week after week, create some of the funniest work on television,” said Kevin Reilly, chairman of entertainment for Fox. “These shows are creatively vibrant, they have established a loyal and passionate audience and they will continue to define and grow the FOX comedy brand next season and beyond.”

Holm’s series Workaholics was renewed for seasons 4 and 5 in January. The third season premiered on May 29, 2012, and the summer finale aired two months later on July 31. The second half of the season began airing on January 16, and the season finale is set for March 20. The most recent episode on March 6 drew 1.09 million viewers, down slightly from the previous week (1.17 million). The season premiere drew 2.11 million viewers, but subsequent episodes have failed to pass the 2 million mark. The second most viewed episode of the season was “Good Mourning,” in which the guys mourn the death of a co-worker, Homegirl.
