Claims of Warren Beatty’s conquests “exaggerated”

Peter Biskind’s book Star: How Warren Beatty Seduced America has been getting a fair amount of attention in the wake of the nationwide Tiger Woods sex scandal addiction, with claims that the elderly lothario has bedded nearly 13,000 women in the course of his career.

The salacious tidbit seems to be the selling point of the book, but Beatty’s lawyer has struck out at claims Beatty authorized the bio and insists Biskind’s assertions about many things in the book are cut from whole cloth:

“Mr. Biskind’s tedious and boring book on Mr. Beatty was not authorized by Mr. Beatty and should not be published as an authorized biography. It contains many false assertions and purportedly quotes Mr. Beatty as saying things he never said. Other media should not repeat things from the book on the assumption that they are true or that the book is an authorized biography.”

Biskind’s assessment was made via (very) “simple arithmetic,” arriving at the conclusion that Beatty had been with “12,775 women, give or take, a figure that does not include daytime quickies, drive-bys, casual gropings, stolen kisses and so on.”
