Lindsey Vonn Makes Olympic Vow: I Will Be Ready For 2014 Winter Games

Lindsey Vonn is going to miss the rest of the 2013 season but she will not miss the 2014 Olympics. The world champion skier vowed today that she would be ready to compete at the Winter Olympics in Sochi.

Vonn said:

“Right now my goal is to be back for 2014 in Sochi… Honestly, in a worst-case scenario, if I trained a week before the Games, I’d be fine. I have plenty of time to be ready for Sochi.”

Vonn said that she initially thought that the injury would keep her from the Olympics but doesn’t think that it will be a problem anymore. The skiier, who tweeted a photo of her injury last week, said that the injury wasn’t as bad as she initially thought.

Vonn said:

“I initially thought it was going to be worse. There was just so much pain that I couldn’t quite tell where exactly it was coming from.”

Vonn won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Olympic games and is hoping to defend her medal in 2014. It could be a tough task, however, as she tore her ACL, MCL and broke her right tibia earlier this month at the world championships in Austria.

Do you think Lindsey Vonn will race at the 2014 Olympics?
