New update for Madden NFL 10 increases in-game ads

A new update for EA’s Madden NFL 10 introduces a number of new tweaks to the gameplay, but also an increase in in-game adverts, many of which are for another EA football game: Madden NFL Arcade. But that doesn’t sound too awful, right? A few extra ads? Hey, Chad from Ripten, how bad is this?

“How bad could it be? It’s pull the hair from your head bad.”

Oh.

“It’s toss the game out your window bad. It’s “I’d rather have a buffalo take a diarrhea dump in my ear” bad.”

Ah. So, actually pretty bad then.

In fact, whereas Madden NFL 10’s advertising was once an occasional nuisance, fans are reporting that the ads (which are hardly small or subtle) appear before every snap. Ripten calculates that by playing with 15 minute quarters and the new accelerated clock feature, that totals well over 100 ad impressions each game.
