Tiger Woods game franchise not going anywhere, repeats EA

While his other sponsors may be slowly backing away from Tiger Woods, game publisher EA announced on December 3rd that it would be standing by the disgraced golfer, and that the Tiger Woods videogame series was not in danger.

Since EA’s original declaration of solidarity, Woods has walked away from golf indefinitely, so does that change the firm’s thinking? In a word, no. Even if he’s not playing, EA is still happy for Woods to grace the front of their games, according to a company spokesperson:

“We respect that this is a very difficult, and private, situation for Tiger and his family. At this time, the strategy for our Tiger Woods PGA Tour business remains unchanged.”

So there you go. Whether he’s hitting tiny balls into holes for a lot of money or not, it looks like you’ll still see Tiger’s mug gurning on the cover of EA’s next annual golf sim. Presumably because most golfers are as charismatic as Colin Montgomerie.
