Lizzy Olsen Confirms ‘Godzilla’ Film

Throughout the month of January The Inquisitr has brought breaking news concerning the latest remake of Godzilla. Now we have news about secondary cast members. In addition to Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick Ass) joining the cast, indie darling Elizabeth “Lizzy” Olsen will be joining the cast.

The is the first Godzilla film since the 1998 take by Roland Emmerich, which starred Matthew Broderick. This new Godzilla film will be directed by Gareth Edwards who took on other sci fi films Monsters, and In the Shadow of the Moon. As far as writing duties, earlier we reported that Frank Darabont rewrote the final script. His previous work, like Edwards, is also very much in line with Godzilla, as he has written for The Walking Dead.

A webinar from CHUD revealed details about the reboot saying:

“The film will feature more than one monster, confirming that two new monsters will also be wreaking havoc – this in addition to the big green guy. Warner Bros. made it clear that their interpretation of the material ‘follows the story of a solider’ and is ‘way different’ than the Toho Godzilla films.”

The lineup of the cast is slowly but surely coming together, and Lizzy Olsen’s addition is just as exciting as the collaboration between Edwards and Darabont. Olsen revealed at tonight’s BAFTA awards:

“I’m about to film Godzilla in the Spring so that’s the next thing I’m working on! Well, Godzilla is actually going to be a very heavy drama! It’s definitely going to be a very different take on the past Godzilla’s.”

Godzilla will be stomping its way into theaters on May 16, 2014 in 3D.
