Anquan Boldin Will Retire If Released By Baltimore Ravens

Anquan Boldin says he is prepared to hang up his wide receiver shoes and retire if released by the Baltimore Ravens. The team could release the veteran after next season in order to make room in its salary-cap.

Speaking to NBC Sports Radio, Boldin reveals:

“I won’t play in another uniform. We have a saying, once a Raven, always a Raven, and I’ll always be a Raven.”

Boldin further adds:

“I think you go out and let your play speak for itself. You deal with that if you have to, but, I think for me — I know for me — Baltimore is the only place I want to play.”

The 32-year-old wide receiver has one year left on a $25 million, four-year contract. In his final upcoming season, Anquan Boldin is set to earn $6 million.

The Ravens would likely love to keep Boldin on the roster; however, six starters will become unrestricted free agents, which could tie up a lot of money at one time. Among the team’s upcoming free agents are quarterback Joe Flacco, linebackers Dannell Ellerbe and Paul Kruger, and safety Ed Reed.

Boldin racked up four touchdowns last season with 65 caught passes for 921 yards. Boldin played in 15 games.

The wide receiver also had an impressive Super Bowl outing with six passes for 104 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens won the Super Bowl 34-31 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Do you think the Baltimore Ravens would be smart to hold onto Anquan Boldin, or are his days in the NFL about to end via free agency?
