Jeter Waits On A-Rod For Comment On PED Scandal As Other Yankees Express Support

Tampa, FL – As Jeter waits on A-Rod to comment about his name appearing in a list of athletes who purchased performance-enhancing drugs, other Yankees have openly defended their teammate.

Speaking at a fundraiser on Monday, Mariano Rivera and Mark Teixeira said they would welcome Alex Rodriguez back to the team following the latest drug allegations against the star.

Rodriguez’s name was among a handful of major leaguers in a list released by Anthony Bosch, a self-styled chemist active in Latin American baseball circles. The Miami New Times published the list, which MLB officials fear could mushroom into an unmanageable scandal.

However, Rivera made it clear that he would support Rodriguez in the scandal, telling reporters at Monday’s charity event:

“He wears that uniform, that New York Yankees uniform, and I have to go out and be there for him. Besides, he’s my friend and I will respect and wait for him to give you the answer that you want.”

Teixeira said he shared Rivera’s thoughts on the issue:

“Just like Mo said, you support your family.”

While Rivera and Teixera backed their teammate, Derek Jeter took a different approach, preferring to wait on Rodriguez to comment on the matter. Speaking on Monday, the 38-year-old star said:

“I don’t comment on anyone until they speak first. Let him address his situation before I comment on it. Let him speak first and then we’ll talk about that.”

As Jeter waits on A-Rod to comment further, Rodriguez has denied the allegations against him in a statement released by his public relations firm.
