ViewSonic VPC08 Windows XP MID-phone Gets Spotted In New Pictures

The ViewSonic VPC08 has been spotted in the wild and the XP MID-phone features some nice specs in handheld form. Aside from running Windows XP the unit also offers an 800MHz Atom Z500 processor with a 4.3 inch display that outputs at 800 x 480 pixels of resolution on a touchscreen. Users can also take advantage of the devices 2 inch external display.

Adding to the mix is 512MB RAM, an 8GB Solid State Disk and WiFi connectivity, all of which are powered by a 1,200mAh battery which I would have liked to see increased considering many phones are over the 1,500mAh mark at this point.

The VPC08 also features a 3.5mm headphone jack and a MicroSDHC card slot for added memory up to 16GB. It also offers a built-in camera, although it’s only pushing out 2MP.

Users can also choose to use the included optical mouse in place of their touchscreen as they see fit and the phone can be powered on without the MID launching when needed.

Sorry but no pricing or availability updates at this time. However, you can see a comparison of the device versus the Nokia N97 in the middle picture shown in the gallery below. [SlashGear]
