Iron Man 3 To Play In IMAX 3D Theaters

Want to see Iron Man 3 on the big screen? On the big big screen? Marvel announced today that the new movie will head to IMAX 3D theaters around the world on April 25.

The movie will also play on IMAX 3d theaters in the United States but American fans will have to wait until May 3 to see Robert Downey Jr. step into his Iron suit.

Greg Foster, chairman and president of IMAX Filmed Entertainment, said:

“Marvel and IMAX are a perfect one-two punch and the Iron Man franchise has become a global phenomenon that resonates with fans around the world.”

Marvel is no stranger to the super-sized screen. Iron Man 2, Thor and The Avengers all played at IMAX theaters.

Dave Hollis, Executive Vice President of Motion Picture Distribution for The Walt Disney Studios, added:

“With Iron Man 3 building on the events of Marvel’s The Avengers, audiences are in for yet another incredible moviegoing experience from Marvel Studios. We’re thrilled to be able to offer that to fans in the larger-than-life action of IMAX 3D.”

Collider notes that the first two Iron Man movies brought in more than $1 billion each at the box office and Iron Man 3 is expected to do the same.
