Breakup Girls: Selena Gomez Leans On Taylor Swift To Get Over Bieber

Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift go way back. The two have been best friend for years, and now Gomez credits Swift for helping her through her most recent breakup with Justin Bieber.

The “Love You Like A Love Song” singer recently broke up with Bieber, 18 — again — and says that coping with the loss is easier thanks to Taylor Swift.

“Taylor is one of the most inspirational, positive, good-hearted people I know. I think she’s been a big part of me staying who I am, too,” says Gomez. And of life after Justin, Gomez admits, “I’ve been through a lot in the past few months. It’s been weird and sad and cool.”

Gomez, 20, officially broke things off with Bieber while the couple were celebrating the New Year in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The pair allegedly fought about Bieber’s connection to Victoria’s Secret Model Barbara Palvin.

While Taylor, 23, and Selena are both high profile performers, Gomez explained that they don’t spend time talking about work. “We have both experienced the same things at the same time,” she explains, “But we’ve never once talked about our industry.”

Selena continues to exhort Taylor, who was recently recognized as 2012’s most charitable celebrity. “She just became the person I’d go to for an issue with my family or boyfriend,” Selena says. “It’s so hard to trust girls, so I’m lucky to have her.”

Swift concurs: “I don’t tend to spend a lot of money on the big things, like cars but I’ll rent a house on the beach or something, bring my girlfriends. We never talk about fashion, about career, about our ambitions or our projects. We just talk about relationships, feelings, love, and boys.”

Taylor and Selena are a good match, since Taylor’s recent breakup with Harry Styles puts her and Selena back in the single girl category.

Taylor is going through a break up of her own from Harry Styles of One Direction, so she can relate to how Selena feels.
