Falcons Fan Stabbed In Throat By 49ers Fan After NFC Championship Game

An Atlanta Falcons fan involved in an altercation with a San Francisco 49ers fan was stabbed in the throat after the NFC championship game Sunday night.

A witness told Channel 2 that the fight started after a 49ers fan passed by an angry Falcons fan in the silver lot outside Gate D at the Georgia Dome. The two exchanged words and the altercation turned violent. The Falcons fan punched the 49ers fan, who then pulled out a knife and stabbed the other man in the throat. The victim was transported to a local hospital, but his condition is currently unknown.

The San Francisco 49ers defeated the Atlanta Falcons 28-24 to advance to the Super Bowl. This will be the team’s first visit to the Big Game in 18 years. They will face the winner of the AFC Championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens.

The last time the 49ers went to the Super Bowl was in 1994, when they defeated the San Diego Chargers 49-26. At the time, they were the first team to win five Super Bowls, and they are currently the only team to have never lost a Super Bowl.

The only time the Falcons made it to the Super Bowl was in 1998. It was their best season to date, having defeated the Patriots 41-10 in November 1997 to end a 22-game losing streak at cold weather sites. They went on to beat the Minnesota Vikings 30-27 in the NFC Championship game, but lost to the Denver Broncos 34-19 in Super Bowl XXXIII.
