George W. Bush Puts His Truck Up For Auction

George W. Bush is auctioning off his truck for charity. The former president donated the truck he often used to roam around his Texas ranch to help Fisher House Foundation. The charity constructs “comfort homes” on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers so relatives can be close to their loved ones while they receive care.

President Bush’s truck is a part of the upcoming Barrett-Jackson collector car auctions in Scottsdale, Arizona, Examiner notes. The former president’s truck is a 2009 Ford F-150 King Ranch 4X4 Super Crew. The auction occurs on January 19 as a part of the Salon/5000 Series segment of the vehicle auction. George W. Bush’s truck is expected to roll across the auction block at 9:30 pm local time.

The former first couple reportedly used the truck to do work around the Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas and to give tours to visiting dignitaries. The Ford truck has a 5.4-Liter V8 engine, a 11,200-pounds towing capacity, and a leather interior.

President Bush autographed the right airbag panel. The winning bidder not only gets a nice truck and the satisfaction of helping out a charity but also receives a video of George W. Bush signing his autograph and driving the truck around his Crawford ranch.

The Gordon D. Sondland and Katherine J. Durant Foundation facilitated the donation of President Bush’s truck for the Fisher House Foundation.

The charity has offered free stays to more than 17,000 relatives and offered more than four million days of lodging to military families since the Fisher House Foundation began in 1999.
