Jennifer Lopez Happy For Ex-Fiance Ben Affleck’s ‘Argo’ Win

Ben Affleck’s Golden Globe win for his political thriller Argo was a surprise to many, but everyone seems to be pretty happy for him including his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez.

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez (formerly known as “Bennifer”) were one of the new millennium’s biggest Hollywood power couples but broke off their engagement in 2004 citing strain from way too much tabloid attention, reports Contact Music. Lopez went on to marry Marc Anthony (whom she has since divorced), and Ben Affleck shacked up with Daredevil co-star Jennifer Garner.

After fermenting away from the public for a while, Affleck emerged as a powerful and talented director, hence Argo, and continues to climb his comeback trail.

And no one is more happy for him than Lopez, reports MSN. “I am so happy for him,” she said, adding that she gave him a standing ovation.

“You know, we went through a really rough time in the press and things like that back in the day. So I really felt like, ‘Wow this is a great moment,'” she said during an interview this week. “I am so glad for him. He deserves it. He made a great movie. He has made a couple of great movies.”

Lopez is also doing press for her upcoming film Parker alongside Jason Statham. In it, she plays a woman recently divorced, which is something she said she identified with.

“Even though every day … you show up, and you try to be bright and happy and all that. … But … it was just hard to get up in the morning. … So I really understood this character in a way I wouldn’t have six months or a year before. Yeah, it was perfect timing, let’s just put it that way.”

Parker comes out January 25, 2013.

It’s nice to see that bygones are bygones for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck. Who would have ever thought they’d wind up here?
