TVGuide.com has just went new age with their online DVR service. Unlike your home television no DVR box is required to use the companies service, simply find the shows you want to watch and TVGuide will notify you when they’re ready to watch online.

The service acts like a news aggregator for your favorite shows, TVGuide waits for the programs to be available for online viewing and then they notify you when the shows are ready to be viewed from their site.

Just hook your TV up to your PC and you can literally cut the ties you have to your cable company in lieu of this excellent service. I haven’t tried it for myself, but early reviews have been posted and they are mostly positive.

No word yet on whether the service is only available in the U.S. or if viewers from anywhere else can take advantage of the service. [SlipperyBrick]
