‘Star Wars 8’ Theory: Luke Skywalker’s Missing Green Lightsaber Confirms Shift To Dark Side? [Spoilers]

If fans are to believe what the Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailers suggest, things will not be going too well for Luke Skywalker in the upcoming sequel. People have been speculating on what will happen to Luke, and some believe that Obi-Wan Kenobi’s former apprentice isn’t necessarily one of the good guys in Episode VIII. Has the absence of Luke’s green lightsaber confirmed that he has already joined the Dark Side?

Everybody has been making a big deal about Anakin Skywalker’s blue lightsaber, which was revealed to be in Maz Kanata’s possession in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The film even concluded with Rey heading for Ahch-To to return the weapon to Luke Skywalker and hopefully begin her training under the last Jedi. But is it possible that Luke didn’t want the blue lightsaber back because he is now one of the bad guys in Star Wars 8?

It’s no surprise that fans have been wondering about Luke Skywalker’s green lightsaber. After all, it was the weapon he had used in the fight against Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi. However, it has been notably absent in the Star Wars 8 trailers and even the merchandise. The missing lightsaber has led to speculations that Luke has discarded it in favor of a red weapon that has been the trademark for Sith Lords in the franchise.

So does this mean Luke Skywalker has gone dark in Star Wars 8? The latest trailer for The Last Jedi seems to show Rey confronting her mentor, who tells her that the situation will not turn out the way she expects. Fans are beginning to wonder if Rey is trying to stop Luke from betraying the Resistance and hopefully go back to the Light.

It is still too early to tell how things will play out in Star Wars 8. After all, it is possible that the trailers have been designed to mislead fans into thinking Luke Skywalker or Rey are the bad guys. Hopefully, Luke’s green lightsaber will turn up and will be used in the fight against the First Order.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi will finally hit theaters on December 15.
