Brand new WWE rumors about which roster Paige is returning to have surfaced based on her recent update to WWE fans. The former two-time WWE Divas Champion has made it no secret that she’s training to make her comeback to the ring after over a year away from WWE for various issues. However, her latest update may have some fans wondering if Paige is working towards a return to the NXT roster or the main roster. Here are the latest details on what the WWE and Total Divas star told fans, what is likely to happen, as well as the possibilities for when her return will occur.
With Paige working out at WWE’s Performance Center in Florida, she’s given fans updates on her Twitter every now and then. Her latest tweet has raised some eyebrows as she not only mentioned she’s been training but gave credit to several women’s superstars who have also been helping her. Paige thanked Mandy Rose, Nikki Cross, Ember Moon, and Ruby Riot for “kicking her butt” over the weeks. All four of these women’s stars currently represent WWE’s NXT roster with several scheduled to compete for the vacated WWE NXT Women’s Championship in an upcoming pay-per-view match.
That could signal to some fans that Paige will return to where her WWE career really got started. The “Anti-Diva” was the first women’s star to hold the NXT Women’s Championship and has the second-longest reign behind Asuka at 308 days. Just like Asuka, Paige vacated the title. However, she immediately made a strong debut on the main roster and won the WWE Divas Championship, defeating AJ Lee for the title.
With that said, Paige’s popularity is strong enough that it seems a return to the main roster is the likely scenario. The WWE is also banking on that biopic about Paige’s life story which also has Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson involved. There was even a scene or two for the movie filmed after an episode of WWE Raw. So it’s much more likely that WWE wants Paige on their most visible programs.
The Paige rumors for a WWE return have pointed towards her showing up on SmackDown Live which could use another strong women’s star after Asuka just debuted on Raw. However, it’s still unknown when Paige will return. Some fans have hoped she might be a surprise member of Team SmackDown at the upcoming pay-per-view. However, WWE.com currently shows their Survivor Seriesteam at five members with Becky Lynch, Carmella, Charlotte, Naomi, and Tamina.
There could always be a scenario like last year’s match where a woman’s star gets taken out before the match, but so far it seems like Paige’s return will probably occur on television. Most likely, it’ll be a surprise on SmackDown Live, or WWE will announce it with some teaser promos to get fans interested in watching the Tuesday night show.
WWE fans, when do you think Paige will make her official return to WWE’s main roster? Or will she end up starting with NXT again first?
