WWE News: ‘SmackDown Live’ To Hold Two Huge Matches For Next Week With Championship Up For Grabs

On Tuesday’s episode of WWE SmackDown Live, it was announced that two huge matches will be a part of next week’s show. Each of these two recently announced matches will feature implications for the upcoming Survivor Series 2017 pay-per-view and Team SmackDown. One of the two matches will involve a WWE championship being contested which could change the look of a match on the Survivor Series match card. Here are the latest details on what’s coming up for next week’s big episode of the blue brand’s show.

WWE fans already knew that “The Viper” Randy Orton qualified for Team SmackDown last week. As reported in the SmackDown results from ProWrestling.net, Rusev competed in a matchup against The New Day’s Big E. At ringside were Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods dressed as classic WWE managers Jimmy “Mouth of the South” Hart and Brother Love. Also on the outside was Rusev’s buddy Aiden English. Towards the end of the match, English stood on the announcers’ table to sign about “Rusev Day,” which promoted Woods to go after him with the trombone. Once English slipped into the ring, he was kicked down by Big E, allowing Rusev to take advantage and get the win.

Coming off his big victory, Rusev found SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon backstage. After talking to him, Shane announced that Rusev will be competing for a spot on Team SmackDown on next week’s show. He’ll take on “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles for that roster spot in what should be an interesting match. Will Styles end up being cost the spot by Jinder Mahal or someone else? Whoever wins the match will join Randy Orton and Shinsuke Nakamura on the SmackDown Live team at Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Also on next Tuesday’s episode of the show, the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship will be on the line. The WrestleZone site reported that current champions The Usos will put the titles on the line against the latest No. 1 contenders Shelton Benjamin and Chad Gable. Both of these opponents are previous tag team champions but with different tag team partners.

If the challengers win the tag team titles, that will also affect Survivor Series. The SmackDown tag team title holders are scheduled to take on Raw‘s current tag team title holders Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose at the pay-per-view.

With Survivor Series 2017 under three weeks away, WWE fans will certainly want to keep an eye on what happens on next Tuesday’s SmackDown Live episode.
