Jennifer Hudson Accused Of ‘Jinxing’ ‘The Voice’ Ratings

Jennifer Hudson has been accused of “jinxing” The Voice’s ratings this season after numbers for the most recent episodes of the talent search saw a pretty steep decline in viewers following fans’ pretty polarized reviews of her unique coaching style.

A recent report by Get Real LOL is suggesting that the recent ratings dip could potentially be down to Hudson joining the coaching team for the first time earlier this year, after noting that viewing figures have seen a pretty steady decline since she claimed her chair.

Per TV By The Numbers, the October 23 installment of the battle rounds dropped in the ratings game as 10.19 million Americans saw part three of the stage, which then fell even further one day later to 9.94 million and became the lowest-rated episode of The Voice Season 13 so far.

The outlet noted that more than 11 million fans initially watched the battle rounds begin the week prior on October 16, but claimed the NBC series saw a seriously steep decline of around 800,000 viewers overnight who decided not to tune in as the next show continued on October 17.

Notably, Hudson joined the coaching team for the first time this year and has been getting a whole lot of mixed responses from fans of the show when it comes to how she’s been building her team.

As noted by Get Real LOL, it’s even been claimed that Jennifer joining the panel this season may somehow have “jinxed” the show because she’s so “outspoken” when it comes to finding talent.

A wave of negative responses has poured in from fans who, over the past few weeks, have made it known that they haven’t exactly been loving Hudson sitting alongside Miley Cyrus, Blake Shelton, and Adam Levine.

“Jennifer Hudson is way too much on The Voice #sitdown #hushup,” one fan hit back at the “Trouble” singer on Twitter on October 29, one day before the star is set to reunite with her fellow coaches for the knockout rounds.

“I hate Jennifer as a judge on The Voice,” added another this week of her polarizing coaching style, while including the hashtag #bringbackalicia. Notably, Alicia Keys will be returning to the panel next year when she’ll re-join the show with Kelly Clarkson and mainstay coaches Blake and Adam.

Others also commented on Jennifer’s “loud and boisterous” personality but defended the star for her approach to building her team.

“I don’t agree at all,” The Voice fan @phoebelu hit back after seeing viewers take aim at the mom of one after being blamed for the current season’s ratings drop. “She is loud and boisterous. But she loves her artists and is super supportive of them all.”

But while it’s not clear if Jennifer is really to blame for the ratings decline over the past few weeks, Miley has also been taking a bit of a beating from fans of the NBC series across social media.

One fan even described the star as being an “irritating sideshow” on the series in a pretty scathing tweet on October 24.

The Voice airs on NBC on Monday and Tuesday nights. The show is set to kick off the knockout rounds tonight (October 30).

Do you think Jennifer Hudson’s “boisterous” personality could have “jinxed” The Voice’s ratings for Season 13? Is the backlash she and Miley Cyrus are receiving fair?
