Carolin Gallego Letter: Note To ‘NY Mag’ In 1992 Praising Donald Trump Appears To Have Been Written By Trump

Is Carolin Gallego really Donald Trump? The internet seems to think so.

In 1992, the high-society NY Mag printed a story that was largely a puff piece on Donald Trump and his ever-rising stature in the business world. But the piece also contained a now-infamous passage in which Trump reportedly gave some candid thought on how women need to be treated.

“Women, you have to treat them like s***,” Trump reportedly said (via Vice News).

The statement was turned into a political ad against Donald Trump during the 2016 election, but more than two decades before, there was a defense of Trump that many people feel was written by Trump himself.

A response letter to NY Mag emerged this week from someone named Carolin Gallego, who claimed she worked as a secretary for Donald Trump. But what followed was a paragraph in the unmistakable, over-the-top speaking style Trump so often employs.

“I do not believe any man in America gets more calls from women wanting to see him, meet him, or go out with him,” the letter from Carolin Gallego read. “The most beautiful women, the most successful women — all women love Donald Trump.”

Text of the entire letter from Carolin Gallego can be seen below.

The letter went viral on Thursday, prompting many people to poke fun at what appeared to be a clumsy attempt by Trump to defend himself.

It’s not clear if Carolin Gallego really exists, or ever existed. The Washingtonian noted that they could find no record of Trump’s alleged secretary.

This would not be the first time that Donald Trump has used a disguise to brag about his own prowess with women. As the Washington Post noted, Trump was known for pretending to be John Barron, a fictional spokesman who often told reporters about Trump’s popularity with women. Trump got away with it for quite a while, as the report noted that there were several instances of Barron being quoted in newspapers propping up Trump, but he eventually admitted in a deposition that he was the one behind Barron.

So far, Donald Trump has not addressed the viral letter from Carolin Gallego — and the real Gallego, if she exists, has not spoken up either.
