Marvel’s ‘The Punisher’ On Netflix Has A ‘Punisher’ Monster Truck Driven By Tony Ochs

Marvel’s new Netflix series The Punisher premieres on November 17. Netflix and Marvel have taken an interesting step in promoting the highly-anticipated series. Not only did they cast Jon Bernthal, formerly Shane on The Walking Dead, to portray Frank Castle, a “Punisher” monster truck just debuted at the Houston Monster Jam on Saturday, Oct 21.

The Punisher Monster Jam truck, created in honor of the new Marvel Netflix series, bounced and leaped in the air, with agility hardly expected of any sort of automobile. The black monster truck, adorned with the white Marvel The Punisher logo, amazed the Houston Monster Jam audience with its stunts.

Jon Bernthal’s role as the Punisher is now not only ready for Netflix streaming, it’s also been forged in the steel of this Monster Jam truck. This high tech truck was made to take a beating, frequently taking impacts similar to being dropped from a three-story building and landing on its wheels.

Monster Jam trucks like The Punisher feature extremely high tech suspension and an array of automotive technology that gives them amazing maneuverability, as well as raw power. Monster trucks can exceed 1,500 horsepower, with supercharged big-block engines, according to Four Wheeler.

The Punisher weighs in at 12,000 pounds according to Monster Jam. That’s the truck, not Jon Bernthal, who is five-foot-11, and weighs only 185 pounds, according to Healthy Celeb.

As the Punisher, Bernthal portrays Frank Castle, a tough-as-nails military veteran with an ax to grind. The spirit of the Punisher truck is much the same. Someone took a sweet little black truck and turned it into a monster truck.

The “Punisher” driver isn’t Jon Bernthal, though Jon would probably love to take the monster truck for a spin. The honor of driving the truck goes to Tony Ochs, a professional monster truck driver. Ochs is quoted in Comic Book describing how he feels about the honor of driving The Punisher.

“While I’m proud to regularly pilot the Soldier Fortune Black Ops Monster Jam truck, representing The Punisher in Netflix and Marvel’s limited-edition ride this weekend was an honor.”

A Jon Bernthal fan and military veteran, as well as a Monster truck driver, Tony Ochs told Comic Book he was trying to “channel” the “attitude” of the Punisher, Frank Castle, as portrayed by Jon Bernthal.

“I’m a huge fan of Jon Bernthal and especially his crime-fighting character, Frank Castle, who comes from a military background like me. I made every effort to channel The Punisher’s take-no-prisoners attitude on the course at NRG Stadium and am thrilled to have delivered in front of a sold-out crowd.”

Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix has found an iconic Monster Jam Truck to represent Frank Castle’s attitude and present yet another aspect of Jon Bernthal’s title role.
