WWE Rumors: AJ Styles-Finn Balor Rivalry Being Extended
The WWE Universe knew that Finn Balor vs. AJ Styles would happen eventually, but few fans expected it to take place last night at WWE TLC. However, Bray Wyatt was one of the performers hit by the mumps that’s going around the locker room and forced some major changes to the PPV’s card. One of those changes was for Balor and Styles to wrestle for the first time and give Finn a major victory while Wyatt is on the mend.
Unfortunately, WWE officials have to make a tough decision regarding Balor’s booking heading into WWE Survivor Series. Following WWE TLC, the feud between Balor and Wyatt could be scrapped for something else because the expectation is that Balor will finally challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE Universal Title at the Royal Rumble in January. That means he’ll be booked very strongly on Raw over the next three months.
WWE officials were forced to give the WWE Universe the first match between AJ Styles and Finn Balor last night at WWE TLC, but the response to the bout has been overwhelmingly positive and the powers that be could be planning another match. It’s being reported that Balor and Styles may have a rematch at the WWE Survivor Series PPV. With something like Jinder Mahal vs. Brock Lesnar already being planned, it’s likely that WWE officials want the PPV to be about Raw vs. SmackDown. Balor vs. Styles II could be on the table.
Based on the past week of WWE television, AJ Styles will have to wait to get back into the WWE Title hunt after the conflict is over between Mahal and Lesnar. WWE officials have the chance to drop Balor vs. Wyatt after last night’s PPV. On paper, Balor and Styles are both available to create a bigger feud out of the match they had at WWE TLC. The only real question is if the powers that be are interested in developing their rivalry.
Logically, it makes sense for Balor to win the rematch over Styles unless the powers that be decide to book their rivalry as a trilogy. In that situation, Styles would get the win at Survivor Series and WWE officials could have their third match happen whenever they want. Based on last night’s match and the response from the WWE Universe, Finn Balor and AJ Styles had their first match, but it could be the first of many.
