Real Reason Why The Shield Reunion Is Happening At ‘WWE TLC’ Revealed

Last week on Raw, Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Roman Reigns met backstage and teased a reunion of The Shield that has been rumored for a long time. The expectation is that the “Hounds of Justice” will face the team of The Miz, Cesaro, and Sheamus at WWE TLC. There is some speculation about Braun Strowman being added to match or replacing The Miz, but it seems a reunion for The Shield is essentially a guarantee.

The Shield disbanded over three years ago and Ambrose, Reigns, and Rollins have gone on to have success as singles stars. However, everyone knew that the trio would reunite for another run eventually. The WWE Universe is ecstatic about The Shield reunion happening now, but a lot of fans are curious as to why the powers that be have decided to book their reunion for WWE TLC instead of WWE Survivor Series or another PPV.

It’s being reported that WWE officials are booking The Shield for TLC because both John Cena and Brock Lesnar aren’t scheduled for the show. Based on the recent attendance issues, the company has been dealing with lately, the powers that be want to ensure that the PPV sells out and is well received. WWE officials felt that a bigger draw was necessary to sell the event, so reuniting The Shield became the most viable option.

Brock Lesnar is being advertised for WWE Survivor Series and John Cena is expected to return around the same time to Raw. On paper, The Shield reunion is just a way for WWE officials to sell TLC, but their run could be extended depending on how the WWE Universe responds. However, WWE fans shouldn’t expect a long run for The Shield for the time being unless the powers that be change their minds later this month.

WWE officials still have huge plans for Roman Reigns heading into WrestleMania 34. Ambrose and Rollins are the current Raw Tag Team Champions, so all three men are busy. WWE TLC just offers an opportunity for the WWE Universe to “believe in The Shield” one more time. Their official reunion should be teased for a couple more weeks, but WWE officials are going to make The Shield the biggest storyline for WWE TLC.
