‘Scary Movie 5’ Trailer Is Loaded With Parodies Galore [Video]

Although it’s been five years since the last sequel, someone though the world needed Scary Movie 5. To get people excited about the upcoming comedy, the first trailer has found its way online.

The film is the latest installment of the Scary Movie franchise, a series of films that poke fun at whatever trend happens to be popular with the horror crowd at the time. Since “found footage” flicks are all the rage at the moment, Scary Movie 5 sets its sights on Paranormal Activity and its brethren.

The folks at MTV got the first look at the new trailer, which finds a young mother (Ashley Tisdale) and her dopey husband moving into what appears to be a normal suburban home. The couple soon discovers that something sinister is sharing the space with them.

Dimension Films offers up the following synopsis:

“Snooty, aloof, imperious, and oversexed French dance company director Pierre is putting on a new production. Jody, a Caucasian late-20s mother of two and her late-20s African American friend Kendra are both vying for the lead in the production. Jody’s extremely controlling former dancer mother is determined that Jody will have the brilliant career that eluded her. The highly skilled mid-30s Diva veteran dancer with the company, Heather Daltry, gets cut from the production and goes berserk.”

As with previous Scary Movie endeavors, the film doesn’t just take jabs at the horror genre. Everyone is fair game, including director Darren Aronofsky’s award-winning drama Black Swan. I think the filmmakers even managed to sneak in a Tyler Perry joke in the same breath, which is actually kind of impressive.

Not surprisingly, the new trailer for Scary Movie 5 spends a fair amount of time with Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan. The pair appear towards the end of the recently released clip in a scene previously teased by just about every news outlet on the planet.

In addition to the Sheen, Lohan, and Tisdale, the film also counts Katt Williams, Heather Locklear, Molly Shannon, Jerry O’Connell, and Kendra Wilkinson among its cast.

Scary Movie 5 is scheduled to hit theaters on April 12, 2013.
