UPS Employee Caught Stealing FedEx Package From Family’s Front Porch

Houston, TX – A UPS Employee was caught stealing a FedEx package from a family’s front porch on Wednesday. Al Alverson was using his computer on Wednesday to track the delivery of packages he and his wife were expecting from UPS and FedEx.

According to the tracking sites both packages had been delivered, but only the one from UPS was found. After reviewing his security tapes, he discovered that the FedEx package had in fact arrived, and that the camera caught a UPS employee stealing the package.

The Alversons contacted UPS right away after their discovery, but state that they were not satisfied with the response. In an effort to be taken seriously by the delivery service, The couple posted the video capture to YouTube. They received a call from UPS the following morning.

UPS has promised to replace the iPad Mini, contained in the stolen FedEx package, which was a gift for the Alversons’ daughter. Due to the situation, the gift is no longer Christmas surprise, but will most certainly be appreciated.

As reported by KHOU, UPS immediately dismissed the employee:

“UPS told KHOU 11 News it was also able to identify its employee and he was fired. The company said he was a seasonal worker who was hired just to deliver packages during the holidays. UPS also said the Harris County Sheriff’s Office arrested him Thursday. He was charged with theft.”

Sandra Alverson called her husband a “geek” when he installed a surveillance camera on the family’s home three years ago, but now she is thankful that it helped them recover their son’s Christmas gift. According to Mandatory.com, the family has decided not to press charges since the UPS employee eventually returned the stolen package.
