Valve Kicks Off Steam Holiday Sale

It wasn’t long ago that Valve threw a Steam sale, but gamers knew that the “big one” was still coming – the biggest sale of them all, and the most dangerous thing on the internet to people prone to buying everything just because it’s on sale.

Well, now it’s here. On Thursday, Valve announced that the annual Steam Holiday sale is now live, and it will be sticking around until January 5. As usual, you can find a selection of daily deals in addition to flash sales, which usually only last no more than 9 hours.

The voting feature has also returned, allowing you to choose between one of three titles to appear as a flash sale.

For the first day of sales, Valve is offering discounts on games like Hitman Absolution ($24.99), Borderlands: GotY ($7.49), Borderlands 2 ($29.99), Mirror’s Edge ($4.99), and 2008’s Prince of Persia ($2.49). Classic Hitman titles are also available bundled together for $6.24.

The first round of flash deals isn’t so bad itself. For a limited time, you can pick up Batman Arkham City: GotY Edition for $7.49, War of the Roses for $14.99, Operation Flashpoint Complete for $13.74, and Fable III for $12.49.

If there’s a game you’re looking for on sale but you can’t keep up with it all, Valve introduced a handy new feature that should solve that problem.

“This year, we’ve taken some of the guesswork out of when your favorite games will be on sale,” Valve marketing boss Doug Lombardi said in a press release.

“You may now organize your Steam Wishlist and be notified via Steam Mobile and/or email when a game from the list goes on sale as a Daily Deal. The Steam Mobile App is available for both iOS and Android.”
