Warning: This article contains Outlander Season 3 spoilers.
“Droughtlander” is almost over.
Not only has Starz finally announced the premiere date for Outlander Season 3, September 10, but the cable network has also taken pity on Outlander nation and released two new photos from the upcoming season.
In the images, released by Entertainment Weekly, we get a look at Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire’s (Caitriona Balfe) lives apart from each other, separated by 200 years. In the first photo, a broken-looking Jamie stands next to Lord John Grey (David Berry), the British soldier who captures him at the 18th century Battle of Culloden. In the second photo, we see Claire standing with Frank (Tobias Menzies) and her daughter Brianna at a 20th century dinner party.
As Inquisitr previously reported, the first half of Outlander Season 3 will keep Jamie and Claire separated, as they try to make lives without each other in their respective centuries. However, the sexy couple will eventually be reunited in a Scottish print shop.
Caitriona Balfe talked about the epic reunion with EW.
“For Sam and I and all the writers, we felt that it was so important to make sure we had the tone right,” she explained. “Claire’s had time to prepare herself for what this might be and to play various scenarios through her mind. But for Jamie, this person just landed in his life again and there was no warning. So you’ve got two people trying to figure out how to go about this.”
As for the aforementioned Lord John Grey, he will be among several key new characters to cross over from Diana Gabaldon’s Outlander book series this coming season.
According to Starz, Lord Grey will be a “steadfast and honorable” British soldier who possesses a strong sense of duty and morality. He is also harboring a secret from his past and develops an unlikely bond with Jamie.
Other new cast additions to Outlander Season 3 will include Hannah James and Tanya Roberts as sisters Geneva and Isobel Dunsany, César Domboy as an adult Fergus, Will Johnson as Claire’s friend and medical colleague, Joe Abernathy, and John Bell as Jamie’s nephew, Young Ian Murray.
As for Jamie and Claire, after their much-anticipated reunion, they will set sail for Jamaica and end Outlander Season 3 on the shores of the American colonies. This will set the stage for Outlander Season 4, which has already been ordered by Starz.
