Selena Gomez might have thrown some subtle shade at Taylor Swift.
When she was asked by SiriusXM Hits if she has met with Taylor Swift’s rumored new boyfriend Joe Alwyn, she said that at the moment, she’s hanging out with her “new person a lot,” as reported by Hollywood Life . Although it does sound a bit offensive that she should bring The Weeknd into this rather simple question, Selena assured her fans that there was nothing to worry about and that the two friends are on really good terms.
But those who know Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift’s history of friendship are aware not to take any of these signs lightly. After all, Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift did have a bit of falling out sometime last year, the Inquisitr previously reported .
At the time, Selena was suffering from depression, and there was a possibility that their BFF status was under threat. The sources close to Selena went on to say that Taylor and Selena were not “so close.” During that time, rumors suggested that Taylor had gotten very close to Cara Delevinge. Also, there were reports that Selena Gomez’s history with Justin Bieber was ruining her relationship with Taylor. It said that Taylor Swift didn’t like Selena Gomez’s closeness with Justin Bieber. Justin and Selena were reportedly in touch when there were rumors of tension between Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez.

In fact, the Inquisitr reported that one of the reasons Selena and Taylor were fighting was because of Selena’s alleged closeness with Taylor’s brother, Austin. The sources who reportedly attended a Vanity Fair party said that Selena and Austin seemed to be having a great time with each other. They weren’t cozying up to each other, but onlookers said there was definitely something going on between them. Also at the Vanity Fair party last year, Selena was seen with Josephine Skriver instead of her pal Taylor Swift.
It’s not known how much truth there is to all these rumors, but it was largely reported that Taylor and Selena had not been in touch while Gomez was in rehab.
