New ‘Game Of Thrones’ Photos Drop Major Hints About A Season 7 Reunion

With Season 7 of Game of Thrones only a month away, producers are doing their best to keep spoilers to a minimum. The HBO series is well ahead of George R.R. Martin’s books, which makes it even more difficult to know what’s in store next season. Fortunately, a new photo teased a major hint about Arya Stark’s storyline as we head into the penultimate season.

According to Vanity Fair, a new photo of Arya (Maisie William) shows her wearing a Valyrian steel dagger. The weapon was the same knife used in the attempted murder of Bran Stark back in Season 1. Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) was the last person seen with the blade, which suggests that Arya either killed him for it or received it as a gift. Either way, Littlefinger is currently in Winterfell with Sansa Stark. Does this mean Arya finally makes it home in Season 7?

Arya has been trying to get home since last season, and it looks like we might get the Stark reunion we’ve been waiting for since the beginning. Further, the dagger makes Arya an even more formidable foe, especially considering how Valyrian steel is the only thing that can destroy a White Walker. Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) proved as much last season when he killed a White Walker with his sword, Longclaw.

In the books, these types of weapons are rare and people no longer know how to forge them. Of course, with the White Walkers getting ready for war against Westeros, Jon and everyone else will need all the Valyrian steel they can get.

In the larger picture, the photo spoiler might indicate that Arya joins forces with Jon at Winterfell to fight the White Walkers. In fact, she might even be the one who ultimately takes down the leader of the dead army, the Night King.

While we wait to learn more, Vanity Fair reports that a new behind-the-scenes video offers a few more hints at what’s to come in Season 7 of Game of Thrones. The clip focuses on costume making for the show but includes a few shots of the cast between takes. This includes Sophie Turner throwing snowballs on a balcony in Winterfell, Rory McCann (The Hound) tossing snowflakes into a fan, and John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) looking through books at the Citadel.

Turner looks carefree in the clip, though it’s clear that she and Jon will have differences in the coming season. The Season 6 finale hinted that Jon and Sansa have differing opinions on how to rule the North, and they will likely come to a head with Littlefinger in the mix.

Of course, none of these spoilers have been confirmed. In fact, according to Winter Is Coming, actor Conleth Hill (Varys) cautioned fans not to believe everything they read.

“It’s the a**hole element of your profession, and they get it all wrong anyway,” Hill shared. “They’ll take a photo of two actors between shots and they’ll say they’re in a scene together.”

That said, it is clear that Littlefinger will influence Sansa’s decisions in the coming season. Whether or not that means Sansa and Jon will part ways and become enemies is yet to be seen. We can only hope that their differences bring them together to fight the White Walkers before it’s too late.

“It’s pretty obvious what my game is there. But at the same time, my character is becoming quite aware that Sansa is becoming as bright as me and wary of my manipulations of her,” Gillen shared. “They use each other. They enjoy each other. They’re onto each other.”

Season 7 of Game of Thrones premieres on HBO July 16.
