Mayim Bialik Talks About Getting Naked And Women Empowerment, Just In Time For Amber Rose’s Bottomless Display

The Big Bang Theory star Mayim Bialik may have encouraged girls not to fear sexuality and be ashamed of their bodies but she called out women, especially, models who like to take their clothes off in front of the camera. In a new video post she shared on YouTube, Bialik made it known that she has issues with celebrities — plus-size models in particular — going nude in the name of women empowerment.

In her YouTube vlog posted Thursday, the 41-year-old actress begins by saying how stories about women going on full nude screaming empowerment make her “a little bit nuts.” Bialik, who plays Amy in the popular sitcom, made it clear that she’s no prude and that she had experienced feeling jealous of skinny women. At the same time, she understands that today’s culture embraces sexuality. But somehow, she feels that the empowering nude images may have more impact than initially intended.

“It should not be taken lightly that the message to present yourself as sexy and desirable may have more of an impact on young women than intended.”

Mayim acknowledges the positive aspects of bigger and plumper women going nude for the sake of empowerment. These plus-size models inspire young girls and women to be confident about their image and embrace their bodies, whatever size or shape that may be. But what gets Bialik is how these inspiring women tend to use nude photos to spread the message about empowerment.

“Almost all of the models I see embracing their curves and talking about female empowerment are doing so by getting naked.”

Mayim also pointed out that models are not the only ones following this trend, but also prominent actors and athletes, who are an inspiration to many.

“I think the trap that we’re falling into is that we start to equate empowerment, not with strength or intelligence or confidence, but with sexiness.”

It wouldn’t matter if someone is an “accomplished intelligent woman” as long as she is sexy, which seems to be the most important thing these days, Mayim implied. But the neuroscientist has also proposed a solution on how to stop spreading the wrong message to young girls. According to her, being famous comes with a responsibility to demonstrate that “sexiness is not the end-all and be-all of your existence as a woman.”

Bialik believes that girls should continue to receive encouragement about how beautiful and special their bodies are and that there are other ways on how to have that inner strength.

“While there is nothing wrong with beauty and sexiness, getting naked is not the only way to feel empowered as a beautiful person.”

The latest case of going naked in the name of empowerment comes from actress and model Amber Rose, who posted a bottomless photo on Instagram. Rose wasn’t showing off her gorgeous body but was promoting Slutwalk, an annual event in Los Angeles aimed at empowering women and addressing the double standards that women face.

The former Dancing With The Stars contestant has always been an outspoken feminist who’s regularly praised for advocating women’s rights, but her latest nude is a step too far for some people. Instagram took down the photo a couple of hours after it was posted due to the platform’s strict no-nude policy.

Rose, in a follow-up post, gave a response to her photo being deleted with a video of herself rolling her eyes accompanied by a caption that says, “When IG deletes ur fire a** feminist post but you really don’t give a f*** because everyone picked it up already #amberroseslutwalk #bringbackthebush”

Even with her photo gone from Instagram, one can still see it on Twitter. Some fans have also taken up the #amberrosechallenge to recreate her nude post and Rose had received a lot of submissions, which she featured on her official account.
