Kirsten Storms Confirms Return To ‘General Hospital’ Amid Battle With Severe Depression

Kirsten Storms’ recent social media posts revealed that the star is coming back to General Hospital soon to reprise her role as Maxie Jones. Last month, Storms revealed she is battling depression, which is reportedly one of the main reasons she left the daytime soap opera.

Kirsten goes back to work on GH

The General Hospital star shared on her social media account, “Had a really fun time shopping for more Maxie clothes with GH costume designer Shawn.”

When asked if she’s returning, she said yes and it’s going to be soon. She also posted a photo of herself in the halls at the ABC Prospect Park studios next to a wall photo of her best friend Emme Rylan, who plays Lulu Spencer. She wrote, “When I stop by GH I stalk @emmerylans’s pictures.”

In March, Kirsten Storms left General Hospital for personal reasons. Though she tried to keep her personal health private, she gave an update on Twitter and Instagram that she has been suffering from severe depression.

“I try to keep my personal issues private, however I recently mentioned on Twitter that I suffer from severe depression. If you or someone you know has dealt with it, then you know it can be a difficult time in life. I’m doing much better as of late and look forward to returning to work soon.”

After she opened up to the public about her depression, Storms received a flood of encouragement from her fans, some of whom have also suffered the same condition. While she still posts cryptic messages on social media from time to time, Celebrity Dirty Laundry has noted that her face is “almost back to its original perfect plumpness.” Before Kirsten took a leave of absence from GH, she seemed to have lost significant weight and looked thin.

What happens when Maxie comes back

General Hospital updates suggest the Maxie will be back in Port Charles at the same time that Damian Spinelli returns. Soaps.com earlier reported that Brandon Anderson is reprising his role as Spinelli and is expected to be back this June. With that, fans would be pleased to see Kirsten on the small screen this month. Maxie and Spinelli are expected to arrive in Port Charles with their daughter Georgie Spinelli, previously played by Kirsten’s real-life daughter, Harper Rose Barash.

General Hospital spoilers from Celebrity Dirty Laundry suggest that Maxie will come home at a time that her husband Nathan West (played by Ryan Paevey) is getting close to Amy Driscoll (played by Risa Dorken) as they might conspire into getting a book deal out of the popularity of the Man Landers advice website.

Maxie was not good to Amy when they were in high school and spoilers said she might try and bully Amy again. Nathan would not be pleased to see Maxie being mean to anyone, though.

Elsewhere on GH, another character is rumored to be coming back to the daytime soap. In a separate report, Celebrity Dirty Laundry explored the possibility of Jonathan Jackson reprising his role as Lucky Spencer. Jackson was last seen in General Hospital two years ago as he was busy working on the primetime series, Nashville.

The speculations about having Lucky back to Port Charles come amid reports that GH is introducing new characters and bringing back fan favorites as part of its effort to boost the show’s ratings. Lucky could stir things up in the daytime soap, and fans would be excited to see a reunion between him and Liz (played by Rebecca Herbst). Now, that would be a challenge for Liz and Franco (played by Roger Howarth).

General Hospital airs weekdays at 2 p.m. on ABC.
